Installation Costs

As with any household appliance, there are costs associated with the operation of a radon reduction system. The small fan that runs the system consumes about the same energy as an ordinary light bulb. Heating and cooling losses vary based on your house size, integrity of the foundation and the cost of electricity. Important Notice For Homes With Sump Pits
Sump Pit Picture

As part of a radon control system, the sump pit in a home must be enclosed to prevent soil gases from entering the home and to allow maximum suction from mitigation fans. Special covers and sealants are used to limit this entry and must remain intact to continue the radon gas reduction process.

It is very important that operation of the sump pump be checked regularly to avoid flooding. You do this by removing the View Port (included with our Premium Package) and raising the sump float. If the pump activates, the pump should be working properly.

You should consider installing a back-up pump and/or an alarm system to notify you in case of pump failure. These devices are available from your local plumber or REI. If you rely on your sump pit to act as a floor drain, YOU WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO USE YOUR SUMP PIT TO DRAIN WATER FROM YOUR BASEMENT FLOOR UNLESS YOU REMOVE THE RADON COVER. OUR PREMIUM MITIGATION PACKAGE INCLUDES A SPECIAL SUMP FLOOR DRAIN AND VIEW PORT TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE (see photo).
